Program Overview:
The GCG Scholar Program is an ambitious initiative launched by the Governance Consulting Group (GCG) to mobilise the brightest and most committed young minds from across the world. The program is designed to nurture thought leaders, business problem solvers and policy innovators by creating a platform for them to engage in high-impact research, strategy development, and problem solving work in this fast changing world. Scholars will be provided opportunities to gain access to a global network of scholars, exposure to real-world problems, mentorship and capacity building from experts, and career advancement avenues through a one-year, structured engagement. GCG intends to also onboard the scholars on full time consulting projects.
Prize Money for scholars:
The top 3 papers will be selected from the batch (inclusive of all the thematic areas) and will be awarded with a Prize of INR 30,000/- (INR Thirty thousand only), INR 20,000 (Twenty Thousand only), and INR 10,000 (Ten Thousand only) respectively along with all other benefits

Structure of the Program
Duration: 12 months

As a Short-Term Consultant – ESG, your principal mandate is to critically examine and align India’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework with global standards, with a strategic focus on enhancing India’s attractiveness as a sustainable manufacturing destination. You will lead analytical and policy-oriented work that simplifies ESG compliance for foreign companies, enabling them to enter, operate, and expand in the Indian manufacturing ecosystem. This role demands a sharp understanding of regulatory ecosystems, global ESG expectations, and the nuances of India’s policy landscape to generate actionable recommendations that foster responsible trade and ease of doing business.
Responsibilities:
You will develop 1–2 high-impact position papers that articulate India’s comparative ESG advantage and practical recommendations to attract foreign manufacturers. Map India’s ESG framework against international regulatory and investment benchmarks. Identify areas for convergence and simplification to make ESG compliance seamless for foreign players. Provide policy inputs to improve India's ESG-driven trade competitiveness. Recommend mechanisms that reduce regulatory friction for foreign companies looking to manufacture and expand in India.
